Weblicon PIM
The Weblicon PIM offers a complete Messaging and PIM solution with address book, calendar, to-do lists as well as Email, SMS, Group SMS and MMS functionality. The multi-access-architecture supports access from different clients, such as HTML, WAP, Java and J2ME to the centrally stored data. Synchronization with Microsoft Outlook and PDAs provides seamless integration with existing solutions offering a smooth transition to the Weblicon PIM. The Weblicon PIM even provides voice access to the user’s Email from any phone using Text-To-Speech and voice recognition.

HTML and WAP Client
The award-winning Weblicon HTML and WAP products offer best-of-class functionality, while at the same time providing an exceptionally easy-to-use user-interface which is key to success in the mass-market. The product was recently awarded with the Usability 2010 certificate for its simple user-interface providing and intuitive dialog interface.
Java Client
The worldwide unique Java client offers drag&drop, direct manipulation and an attractive user experience, which is able to compete with leading desktop PIM products. Using the Java client, users can drag an appointment and drop it on a new date and time, dynamically resize windows and double-click an address book entry for editing. The Java client represents the next-generation application combining the best of both the desktop and web applications. While it provides a user-experience comparable with desktop applications, it stores data on the centrally hosted service thus making it available for access by other clients.
SyncML
The Weblicon SyncML-certified synchronization technology allows seamless integration of the centrally hosted PIM with popular desktop applications like Microsoft Outlook, Palm PDAs, PocketPCs. Thanks to the industry standard SyncML, Weblicon is the first technology provider in Europe to offer Over-The-Air (OTA) synchronization with SyncML-enabled mobile phones.
VoiceXML
The recently released VoiceXML server plugs in to existing voice portals by using the industry-standard VoiceXML. It currently provides voice access to the user’s email and will soon provide full voice access to all PIM functions. Users can call a central phone number and talk to a virtual secretary, which is able to understand to simple voice commands and can read aloud the user’s Email.
J2ME
To complete the product line, Weblicon is currently working on a J2ME client providing an advanced user-experience for next-generation Java-enabled mobile phones. Users can download the J2ME client to their mobile phone and use an attractive graphical user-interface for accessing the Weblicon PIM data. The J2ME client is the next-generation mobile access client superseding the basic WAP client in terms of usability.
Industry Standards
The Weblicon PIM application is based on industry-standard protocols and thus highly platform-independent. The Java-based product is developed using the industry-proven WebObjects application framework and can be deployed on any J2EE application server. It is database-neutral, can be integrated with different LDAP and IMAP servers and offers an XML API for integration with third-party WebServices.
Architecture
The Weblicon PIM System Architecture has been designed to meet the requirements of mission-critical installations providing carrier-grade scalability, reliability and interoperability. The architecture has been built in close collaboration with partners from the telecommunications industry during its design and implementation-phase. This results in a very flexible and robust architecture meeting the requirements of this industry. The Weblicon PIM application has been successfully integrated into several complex network environments and has been proven in live operation at KPN Mobile providing the GroepsSMS functionality.
Customization
Weblicon has complete control over all source-code of the Weblicon PIM and is independent from third-party products and licenses. Unlike other companies, which highly depend on third-party technology, this enables Weblicon to implement major custom development of the core product. Weblicon has a good track-record of implementing custom development based on the Weblicon PIM product integrating it with existing network infrastructure and billing solutions.
The Weblicon Skins architecture allows the product to be visually customized matching the customers’ requirements. All graphical elements including layout, images and colors can be individually adapted for every customer. The product is completely language independent and fully localized to 6 major European languages. It supports automatic calculation of holidays for 18 nationalities making it in particular attractive to customers with a pan-European subscriber base.
