SURVEY - CREATIVE BUSINESS: Online organizer

Netverk's "supercharger" could benefit Weblicon Technologies, a Berlin-based developer of applications for next generation mobile networks, also on show at Etre. The German company has been certified "Ready for GPRS" by Ericsson, the Swedish manufacturer.
Weblicon supplies portal operators, service providers and telecoms companies with a generic "online organizer" including a diary, contacts book, and a messaging service for e-mails and short messages (SMS). The company's founders, Carsten Brinkschulte (ex-SAP) and Peter Haas (ex- Acer) say that a portal installing their organizer will markedly enhance its "stickiness" as users return to update their schedules, to-do lists and contacts.
They say they have built technical independence into the product - it works in several languages and with a variety of technologies including Wap, HTML and Java. Weblicon charges for installation and for customising the organizer to the client's requirements. There is a monthly licence fee dependent on the number of users.
