User-friendly Office Groupware for Small to Medium Enterprises
Weblicon and Sun Microsystems introduce the Small Office Solution

Berlin, March, 12th 2003 – Weblicon Technologies AG is partnering with Sun Microsystems announcing the immediate availability of the Small Office Solution (SOS). The solution combines Personal Information Management, Messaging and Office software and is ideally suited for small to medium enterprises.

The complete solution combines Weblicon’s Calmeno server software with Sun’s productivity suite StarOffice and runs on Sun Linux and Sun Solaris server systems. Calmeno offers applications like E-Mail, Addressbook, Calendar as well as Groupware. StarOffice adds word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation and graphics software. The Small Office Solution is exceptionally easy to install, easy to use and thus ideally suited for small to medium enterprises. The Small Office Solution is the first of a series of products which are tailored towards the needs of small to medium enterprises. It runs on Sun Linux and Sun Solaris server products such as the Sun LX 50 or the Sun V100/120 server systems and can be used from Windows-, Macintosh or Linux desktops.

“The Small Office Solution is a key product for the successful product launch in the German SME market aiming against proprietary systems”, said Rüdiger Gunther, Manager Sales and Marketing Volume Products at Sun. “This solution will be successful, because it offers exceptionally easy-to-use software at an attractive price level and combines it with rock-solid Sun server technology.”

While the Small Office Solution is user-friendly, it offers advanced functionality such as mobile access to E-Mail, Calendar and Addressbook via WAP- or i-mode-enabled mobile phones. In addition, the SOS can be easily synchronized with 3rd party systems such as
MS Outlook, Palm- or PocketPC-PDAs as well as mobile phones supporting the SyncML industry standard. “No other solution on the market can offer mobile access, synchronization and compatibility with existing desktop solutions”, said Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Weblicon Technologies AG.

The Small Office Solution is available immediately for Sun Linux server systems and is offered in a bundle with a 25 RTU license for StarOffice and a 50 user license of Calmeno at 8.999,- Euro including a Sun LX 50 server system.
