debitel launches Weblicon Online Organizer including Synchronization with Mobile Devices

April 20, 2004, Berlin, Germany - Weblicon Technologies AG has further enhanced the functionalities of its online organizer and once again has demonstrated its ability to deliver innovative products for the telecommunication market.

Starting from March 2004, Debitel AG offers “Mein Buero” (“My Office”) to all of its customers. “Mein Buero” is based on the Weblicon Organizer, which incorporates support for synchronization with mobile phones.
In addition to providing an online organizer, the Weblicon technology also provides support for state-of-the-art smart phones, PDA/organizers including Palm and PocketPCs, and seamless integration with desktop PIM applications such as MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express and Lotus Notes.
This broad support ensures that the needs of both consumer and business users are taken into account.
Weblicon has realized this highly sophisticated solution in cooperation with MIDRAY.

“Using the Weblicon Organizer, users gain additional mobility and obsolete data becomes a thing of the past: The integrated SyncML Server synchronizes appointment and contact data on the PC with the Weblicon Organizer and the mobile phone and/or the PDA, ensuring that users’ data is always up-to-date. This cutting edge technology gives users access to their data, no matter where in the world they are, no matter which device they have at hand. They are always up-to-date and mobile”, says Christian Marsch, Director, Sales & Product Management with Weblicon, explaining the advantages of the new system. He adds, ”when singling out the best technology for their product “Mein Buero”, Debitel has deliberately chosen a software supplier that was able to realize the challenging requirements using only open industry standards. Users will benefit directly from the ability to back up their address books and transfer them into current and upcoming mobile devices.”

Two years ago, Weblicon became the first in Europe to launch a fully working and certified SyncML server. Since then, SyncML has rapidly become established in devices but there is still an extremely complex environment with different implementations, devices and data formats. Weblicon’s technology focuses on the SyncML protocol as the industry standard that enables data synchronization but has real world experience of the many small but important details that need to be addressed to support the broadest possible range of devices.

All of the major manufacturers, including Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson and Motorola, as well as many other handset manufacturers, already support SyncML in most if not all of their current models.
Weblicon provides a list of supported mobile devices, which is being updated every day and can be found on their home page. As of today, you will find 65 devices, all supporting SyncML.
